Developing a matrix framework for protein transition towards more sustainable diets

Purpose The purpose of this study is to propose a matrix framework understand the interdependencies domains and scales protein transition towards diets based on plants alternative sources proteins. Design/methodology/approach abductive research approach used in building framework, proposed illustrated using regional food system Central Finland as an example. Focus groups interviews were collect qualitative data from 28 respondents. Findings This provides for transition, with five scale levels. Interactions between public private governance activities at different scales, governed niche regime levels are discussed. shows how micro-level individual or community linked broader activities. Research limitations/implications Due relatively narrowed set empirical data, further required test cultural settings. Practical implications paper presents practical illustration considering this, discusses possible management. Social proposes that understanding coevolution help accurate policies business models, can lead effective transition. Originality/value fulfils identified need frame, which highlights structural activity domains.
